This was a limited edition of 3 Globes. They are no longer available.
This Georgian style cocktail cabinet contains a Cut Crystal Decanter and 6 Glasses on Stems made by Jim Irish. The ringed neck, pillar cut diamond pattern decanter and matching glasses are an old 18th century Waterford Glass pattern. They are the perfect accompaniment for the elegant 18th century form of this Globe on Stand. The Globe on Stand is made by Michael Walton. The globe itself is veneered, on both the inside and outside of the sphere. On the outside the sea is veneered with amboyna and the continents and islands are veneered using burl maple. The fine lines of latitude and longitude are inlaid with boxwood. The inside of the globe is veneered with burl maple and the inlaid fan on the inside contains segments of boxwood, ebony and harewood (green dyed sycamore)
The structure of the stand is made using 18th century reclaimed mahogany and amboyna veneer. All the fine lines are inlaid boxwood. The compass points are made using ebony and boxwood. The brass fittings are also handmade.
